Observatory of Earth and Sky
The observatory of Earth and Sky serves as a captivating destination that directs attention towards the wonders of nature, offering not only celestial observations but also a deeper connection to our earthly home. This vision emerged from a fundamental need to reestablish a profound bond with both the earth and the sky, an enduring necessity that can sometimes be overlooked. The design concept revolves around maximizing the harmonious relationship between the terrestrial and celestial realms. Consequently, the site selection played a pivotal role, with a hilltop location chosen to provide the required elevation for housing the observatory dome and its primary telescopes. Situated near the village of Chelesban in the Markazi province of Iran, the area’s cold and arid climate proves ideally suited for an observatory. In fostering a tangible connection with the earth, the approach taken involves embedding the structure into the ground, enabling visitors to embrace the silence, darkness, and coolness of the soil. This ensures that the ground-level space remains undisturbed, offering the necessary tranquility and obscurity for celestial observations.
